FLUX 3 Image Klein promises native 4K on an 8 GB graphics card
Black Forest Labs releases a compact 5.6-billion-parameter model, free for commercial use for companies with under $5 million in revenue.

On October 15, Black Forest Labs unveiled FLUX 3 Image Klein, a compact member of its FLUX 3 family. With 5.6 billion parameters, it is clearly aimed at individual machines rather than server farms.
Two promises stand out in the announcement. First, native 4K generation, with no upscaling step. Second, an INT8-quantized version that would fit in 8 GB of video memory, the class of consumer graphics cards most people actually own. Both are specifications announced by the developer: the real quality of the 4K output and the speed on 8 GB have yet to be measured.
A license designed for small businesses
The other novelty is commercial: the license is free for commercial use as long as the company makes less than $5 million in revenue. Freelancers, agencies and startups can therefore build it in at no cost, while larger players will need to sign an agreement.
Our take
This is not an open-source license in the strict sense: above the threshold, the terms change. Compared with MOSS-Image, released under Apache-2.0 with no cap, Klein bets on resolution and hardware efficiency rather than licensing freedom. For a small team, the choice will mostly come down to whether it needs 4K and how fast it expects to grow.
